Can we quantify UX? Is it possible to measure UX with a single number?

We can combine measures on usability, look, feel, workload and features, in order to derive to a single metric.

By using well validated scales we can collect data to answer the following questions:

Usability: how easy is the system to use? Is the interface suitable for the user? Is the dialogue consistent?

Look: does the user like the design, colours, fonts of the feature?

Feel: how does the input / output feel? Is there appropriate feedback (tactic, visual, etc)?

Features: is the number of features and functionality appropriate for the car segment?

Workload: what is the visual, manual and mental workload of the features?

UX is based on subjective experiences and accurate measurement is very difficult. However, by using an evidence-based approach and methodology based on research we can minimise the measurement error.

As professionals we must conduct continuous research in order to strengthen our methodology and achieve high levels of reliability, validity and sustainability.
